Our Children

Our oldest son, Morning Glory, is 8 years old.  He's a great video game whiz, loves science and is so affectionate.  He hates writing, loves science experiments and the color yellow.  He also happens to be high functioning autistic.
Our second son, Forget-Me-Not, is 6 years old and also loves science and math.  He often will try to get me to skip him ahead in math, even though he still hasn't mastered some things. He loves it that much!  He has a very vivid imagination and loves all things boy, swords and dirty!  He is my clinger on affectionate child.  He was born 2 months early and is a little small for his age.  But don't tell him that! :)

Our baby, Snapdragon is our last child and only girl!  She is a handful, and I know the Lord sent her to me to make me a saint!  We love her dearly and she adds something to our family that only a girl could.  That something girly that the boys obviously lack.  I know you most likely thought she was another boy from the pictures.  She wanted short hair like me and I happen to think it looks adorable.  We'll see what she wants when she gets older.   She's sugar and a LOT of spice, but so very nice (most of the time).  She is 3 years old and our last child (or so we thought!).  I am Bipolar and take medication for it.  Every time I become pregnant and have to go off my medication, it's worse on me.  So we've decided with our parish priest, that 3 children is what the Lord wants for us.  I'm sharing this with you so that other families that maybe would love a BIG family like me, can realize that God is okay with a smaller family.  My heart wants what my body can't.

Meet Baby Sunflower!

He's the newest one to join the garden and is such a blessing, although a lot of work.  He was born in April and is keeping my awake mostly.

What adorable kids! I loved reading about/seeing your boys and your little girl- love her hair! You don't see that every day, and it's very neat!

I had to comment because, though I'm not Catholic, I also would love to have a house full of kids (I only have two— boys, ages 8 & 4). But I suffered severe PPD after having each of them, the second time being the worst by far. I also had a very difficult time mentally, dealing with the demands of a baby. Knowing my body/mind just couldn't handle another postpartum/infant stage, I made my peace with it and feel that God agreed, I needed to stop at two.

I've thought of adopting an older child/children someday in the future, once our boys are a bit older.

Have a great school year!

Ms. Understood,

Thank you so much for your kind words! I've since changed my wording to include ALL families, not just Catholic ones. It was late at night when I wrote that post and it never dawned on me that I was excluding all mothers. Christian and non-Christian alike. Enjoy your boys as I will enjoy my children, and we'll praise God for the gifts he has given us!

God Bless,
Mary

Aw, I didn't feel excluded, but you're very sweet.
Yes, we're both very blessed! I appreciated your honesty & candid discussion about your situation- it touched me and even though our circumstances are a little different, they overlap in a big way and you made me feel a little less "alone" in my difficult choice to not have anymore children.
Thanks! :)

We are not a Catholic family, but I would love a large family. Sadly, my body doesn't do well with pregnancy (rare complications) and I have a hard time getting and staying pregnant. I just feel blessed with the 2 boys (7 & 3) that we have and plan to possibly adopt later. Your children are really cute and good for you for knowing your limits.

Hi, good afternoon, Mary!!

I must say that you have a beautiful family!

The reason for this email is because I work for a web app startup company on Long Island, New York and we are beginning to visit schools and spread the word about our amazing service. I thought that it would also be great to reach out to homeschooling families as well!
We're a content creation site wherein you can create lesson plans, projects, presentations, e-greetings, invitations with an RSVP feature, and so much more. Currently, we are really focusing on the education spectrum and have started a pilot program with two local schools; we have met with over 45 principals and educators to see just how buncee can help in the classroom and what we can do to add or omit certain aspects of buncee in order to help them teach their students.
With respect to homeschooling, buncee is a great tool that allows children to use their imagination, and develop their computer skills (under supervision, of course) through projects and presentation design. It has come to light from our meetings with several schools, that students as young as 3rd grade are required to use sites such as Prezi and Glogster, to create presentations and present them to their class.
With buncee, you can add backgrounds, text, text with links attached, YouTube videos, photos, among many other things to a blank digital canvas and share it publicly on all social media, or privately via email; it can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be. What is even greater about buncee is the fact that it was created for a great cause!
The CEO, Marie Arturi, lost her seven-month-old baby girl, Daniella, to a rare bone marrow failure disorder in 1996 and it became she and her husband, Manny's, mission to ensure that no other parent would go through the pain that they had endured. After Daniella’s death, they created the Daniella Maria Arturi Foundation (www.diamondblackfananemia.org), and two years ago, buncee was created in the hopes of someday funding the foundation in order to support research for a cure of the rare disease, Diamond Blackfan anemia, which is diagnosed within the first year of a child’s life.
Ultimately, buncee’s goal is to fund research; however, in the process, we are determined to help out today’s children for a brighter tomorrow as they learn and obtain their creative skills. I hope you take the time to check out this buncee (http://www.buncee.com/buncee/33191) that I made for an education event we hosted at a local vineyard recently--it's geared for 6th graders but I figured you'd get the idea.
We love getting feedback from new users, especially educators and homeschooling families who are able to adopt the service, and use it in their classrooms and at home. We welcome both positive and negative feedback so if you are able to check out the site, please don’t hesitate to contact me, should you have any questions or critiques!

*P.S.: We are proud to announce that we were the winner of this year’s TiEcon award for the internet category a few weeks ago! Since our big win, we have had several media outlets reach out to us so feel free to Google us and check out what they’re saying about buncee! 

With warm regards,
Courtney A. Mitterando
