After a discussion on The Well Trained Mind forums about workboxes, I was asked to share my way of doing it. Rather than clutter up a thread over there, I figured I would share it here. For everyone to enjoy.
My children each have binders that are color coded to them. On the inside of the binders are binder pouches that hold their work for an entire week, each pouch holding a days worth of work.
If there is a book or something that doesn't fit in the pouch, the information is on their assignment sheet of what to do.
We school 4 days a week, so each week is preloaded on Sunday night!
When they are finished with thier work, it gets put in the back of their binders in a finished work pouch, which I correct at the end of the school week.
And that's our system! It's easy, quick, and the kids are in control of their learning.

Thanks so much! I used the printouts that I bought from Mom's Toolobox.com. They are lovely and many things from her are so fantastic.
I love this system! I'm trying to figure out how much of my kids work would fit into the pouches. I'm afraid too much of ours is big books that don't fit.... I hope I'm wrong or that I can find away to change because I really like these.

When using this system, I take apart any workbooks and print pages so that they will fit into the pouches. The math book is so slim it doesn't take up much room at all. The pouches do have some sort of gusset, so you have a little wiggle room, but not much. You could always put them into a 3" ring binder as well for more room.

I've tweaked my way of workboxing many times to accommodate my children, and way they are academically. This year, I will be doing something a little different because they will now be reading all of their own books. They are branching to different books for most subjects so they will have a schedule to follow, but will still use folders for their loose papers. These binders for a fantastic option when we were using mostly papers that I printed up and not many hardback books. This year though, they are going to be responsible for reading all of their own assignments and giving narrations, both oral and written on what they read. I'm glad you find my blog helpful!
